Elizabeth is happy to remember her previous years in North Carolina with an autumn dogwood watercolor painting by Penney.

On December 5, 2020, during the height of the pandemic, this historic Manhattan East Village church, the Middle Colleagiate Church, was gutted in a 6-alarm fire--including Louis Comfort Tiffany stained glass windows--except for its limestone, neo-Gothic facade from 1881-82 which remained for a couple of years, pending decisions about reconstruction. Eventually the facade was torn down in November 2023. Since the pastor had performed the marriage ceremonies for my younger brother and my niece, I was inspired to create a painting of hope where the sky opens up for a shaft of light exposing a golden cross where the stained glass windows used to be in the gable leading. The purple banner says, "A Bold New Church," as the congregation seeks to rebuild. GIFT.

"Thinking of my mother today while preparing for Thanksgiving. Commissioned our friend Penney De Pas to create this beautiful painting of the dragonfly. The dragonfly always reminds me of mom--they would hover at her sliding door in the last months of her life." --Felicia Morris

"Penney and I met in 2020. We are both a Next Door neighbor. We were drawn together for the love of art. She is a Fine Arts painter and I am a Stained Glass Artisan. We both are using our mediums, she in paint and I in colored glass, to bring joy, peace and color to our community.
We are co-collaborating to bring Fine Arts and Market together. North Raleigh Arts Market @ The Shops of Vintage Village in North Raleigh. September 12th 1-5pm
In the Spring of 2021, Penney invited me to participate as an Exhibitor at her Front Porch Art Sale. I purchased this delightful Sunflower -
"I love this painting of Duke Gardens' Lotus Pond in the White Garden. Penney's painting reminds me of this lovely spot. " - Anju

"I’ve been a fan of Penney’s artwork from when I first set eyes on it. A narration of distinctly American craft and image. It gives me a visceral sense of southern living, the simplicity, clarity, straightforwardness without harshness or pretense. Looking at this particular painting fills me with this peaceful gratitude for all of that, in the delicate colorful beauty of the Sweet magnolias. It’s a gorgeous addition to my coastal craftsman home, feels so classic! Nothing like having real artwork by real humans in your home!" -- Amie

“I was immediately drawn to the rich colors of purple and blue. The way Penney captures dusk, and the way she captures the light makes me yearn to go to the desert. Her pieces bring me joy and a sense of peace in my yoga and creative spaces. My son says 'Goodnight, cactus' to this painting every night." - Crystal
-
"I began buying Penney's florals at her first art show back in 2003, and I continue to invest in her work as her abiilties improve." - Joy
-
"Away into the Stars" was bought by a man in Virginia for his wife as a holiday gift. It was spotted by the wife's friend at a holiday market where I was displaying in Wake Forest, NC.

"I love these paintings because they remind me of being in a cozy place in the mountains." -- Jacki
